Caravan parks work best when everyone is considerate. These are the common courtesies most parks expect. Always check your park’s own rules, which take priority.
Arriving and setting up
- Arrive within office hours, or arrange a late check-in in advance
- Drive slowly through the park and watch for kids and pets
- Stay within your site boundaries, including awning, mat and car
- Don't cut through other people's sites
- Set up efficiently, especially if you arrive late, and keep lights and voices low
Noise and generators
- Respect quiet hours. Most parks set them; ask at check-in
- Keep music and conversations to your own site
- Many parks restrict or ban generators. Follow the rules and keep them away from neighbours
- Turn off bright outdoor lights when you go to bed
Amenities and camp kitchens
- Leave showers and toilets as you'd like to find them
- Clean up after yourself in the camp kitchen and BBQ area
- Don't leave washing in machines; move it on promptly
- Be mindful of water use where supplies are limited
Pets and kids
- Check pet rules when booking. Many parks are pet-friendly with conditions
- Keep dogs on a lead, pick up after them and don’t leave them barking
- Supervise children near roads, water and other people’s gear
Waste and water
- Use designated dump points for toilet cassettes, never toilets or drains unless signed. See our dump point guide
- Follow the park’s rules for grey water
Fires
Only light fires where the park allows, in provided fire pits, and never on total fire ban days. Check local fire danger ratings via HazardWatch or your state’s fire service.
Leaving
- Check out by the listed time
- Leave your site clean, with rubbish in bins and nothing left behind
- Run through the pack-up and pre-towing checklist before you drive off
